The South African wine industry recently launched a seal, which will guarantee that the wine has been produced in line with fair labour practices, outlined and audited by the Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association (WIETA), which was established over a decade ago.
Globally, more shoppers want to support producers who treat their workers fairly. Only South African wine producers who meet the rigorous criteria set by WIETA are entitled to use the seal on their wines. This ethical seal is modelled on South Africa’s sustainability seal which was developed to promote awareness of the production integrity followed at every stage of the supply chain from vineyard to bottle
At Boschendal we are extremely proud to announce that a selection of wines from our Reserve Collection, Elgin Appellation Series and 1685 range have qualified to sport the seal. This means that over a million bottles of wine are certified to carry the WIETA ethical trade seal.
