During the summer months Boschendal’s Pavillion picnic area provides the ideal setting for an al fresco lunch of freshly packed picnics served in wicker baskets. Picnics are set up in the shade, under the lofty, fragrant pine trees - perfect for a relaxed summer afternoon. Picnic baskets are filled with pâtés, home baked bread, cold meats, salads, and cheese and biscuits.
The Pavilion in the garden provides an idyllic and picturesque setting for a wedding ceremony.
The picnic area is popular from mid-October through to mid-May with guests enjoying picnics from approximately 12h00 to 18h30. The area can however be booked for exclusive use at an additional charge.

The picnic area lawns are approx. 75m x 150m in size. Around half of this area is shaded by trees.
Additional Venue Hire Details
The use of this venue is weather dependent and we would need to cancel by 10:00 if rain looks certain. Please note that there is no backup facility in the event of inclement weather unless you choose to also hire a marquee or Bedouin tent.
For wedding ceremony seating you would need to arrange for the hiring of chairs and this would be for your account.
If you hold the ceremony at the Pavilion, you would need to make arrangements to sign your register at another venue either before or after the ceremony, as our premises do not meet the requirements of being a Church, a building in which religious education is given or a private dwelling.
Any décor or flowers that you use in the area may only be put up on the day of the ceremony and will need to be removed on the same day
All of our functions are catered in-house by Executive Chef, Christiaan Campbell and his team.Our farm-to-table menus use only the best quality seasonal ingredients sourced from our fields, gardens and other local suppliers. We raise our own award-winning Black Angus cattle, acorn-fed pigs, free-range chickens and harvest most of our vegetables from the organic Werf Food Garden run by Megan McCarthy.
For picnic functions we have a selection of 2 standard baskets however you can speak to us about customising the contents.
