During the restoration of Boschendal in the 1980’s, the internationally acclaimed rose garden was established on the eastern slopes of the grounds.

Designed by Gwen Fagan, an authority on old gardens in the Cape, the garden features many of the original rose bushes that were cultivated. This space is ideal for a picnic or long table style function. The grounds can hold up to 80 guests. The lawn in the rose garden is approximately 10m x 50m with sections varying in width and partly shaded. 

Capacity: The grounds can easily hold 80 guests either seated on chairs or with beautiful picnic blankets.

The lawn in the rose garden is approximately 10m x 50m. Some sections are a little wider than others and lawn is only partly shaded.

Additional Venue Hire Details

The venue hire for a lunch picnic function day includes our standard picnic baskets, blankets, cutlery and crockery.

The venue hire for other functions includes tables, chairs, cutlery, crockery, glassware and linen but excludes food and beverages, staff, outdoor furniture or marquee.

Function Catering

All of our functions are catered in-house by Executive Chef, Christiaan Campbell and his team.Our farm-to-table menus use only the best quality seasonal ingredients sourced from our fields, gardens and other local suppliers. We raise our own award-winning Black Angus cattle, acorn-fed pigs, free-range chickens and harvest most of our vegetables from the organic Werf Food Garden run by Megan McCarthy.
